Government of Ecuador says it does not interfere in the processing of election results

The Government ruled out interfering in the work of the National Electoral Council (CNE), which processes the results of the elections on February 7.

“Neither the Government nor its officials intervene in the processing of the electoral results and, consequently, they do not participate or exercise any type of interference in them,” the publication states.

It adds that this work is the exclusive responsibility of the CNE. Even on February 7, during the inauguration event of the electoral process, Vice President María Alejandra Muñoz referred to the independence of powers.

She said that this Government has complied with it and that thus an electoral process can be carried out without any interference.

She recognized that there are a diversity of criteria and that this is part of democracy.
