17.500 doses arrive in Ecuador from Belgium, the Ministry of Health reported in a statement.
The Ministry of Health explained that it will begin with the logistics of distribution of biologicals to complete 100% of the first doses in the 99 hospitals that treat COVID-19 and 100% of the first doses in 47 public and private gerontological centers in the country .
The doses reached Quito and Guayaquil. These new doses of the Pfizer vaccine add to the 24.492 that arrived on January 21 (8.190) and February 17 (16.380)
The Ministry of Health reported that 10 thousand vaccination points will be progressively implemented, after training more than two thousand health professionals for inoculations, nationwide.
They will begin with the training of the personnel of the Complementary Health Network that will be incorporated in the following inoculation phases. The Government plans that the Vaccinate Plan will have an application capacity of about 160 thousand daily doses.
From the first week of March, once the second dose has been applied to those vaccinated in Phase Zero, the simultaneous vaccination phase will begin for health personnel in general, law enforcement and firefighters, vulnerable groups, waste collection personnel, personnel from strategic sectors, teachers at all levels.
The Government recalls that it has signed contracts for 20 million doses by 2021, with the aim of vaccinating 60% of the population this year.
