The presidents of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, and Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, agreed to carefully follow the electoral processes in the region, mainly that of Ecuador so that it culminates in a timely manner, and democratic continuity is guaranteed.
They ratify the political will to act together in Latin America with an open agenda linked to the pandemic and the role of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the electoral processes.
Fernández is convinced that Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS, sent a mission in the penultimate elections in Bolivia to harm Evo Morales, a question that can be seen in the last paragraph of the bilateral document.
The leaders agreed that the OAS Electoral Observation Missions must adhere strictly to objective technical criteria, as well as strengthen national capacities in electoral matters.
They highlighted the danger that these missions exceed their powers and scope, to avoid a repeat of what happened in Bolivia in 2019.
Both ratified the geopolitical value of the OAS, but proposed a change of logic when sending missions to observe the elections in Latin America, highlight the international news agencies.
