Outside the prisons, the relatives of those deprived of liberty live another drama when they do not know if their parents, brothers or children died as a result of the violence that began last Tuesday.
In the Regional jail of Guayaquil, in the midst of the police and military bustle, the scenes are similar, women are observed requesting information.
In the early morning of this Thursday, February 25, police and military managed to recapture 14 inmates who escaped after a new mutiny was registered at the Guayaquil Penitentiary Center No. 4 on Wednesday, February 24.
As the hours passed, the incident was controlled by the National Police and the National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders of Ecuador (SNAI).
The National Police made a new incursion to control the rioters. The authorities have not yet confirmed whether there were deaths or injuries after this disturbance.
The Guayaquil Penitentiary Center No. 4 was not the only prison where some inconvenience was registered this Wednesday, February 24, the authorities also had to attend a riot at the Sierra Norte Cotopaxi Social Rehabilitation Center, in Latacunga.
During the operation in the Guayaquil Regional Prison, 150 soldiers from the three branches of the Armed Forces cordoned off the surroundings and after the search for the escaped inmates, they were recaptured and returned to their cells.
It turned out that around 10:00 a.m., a Legal Medicine vehicle left the prison amid the tears and prayers of the relatives of those deprived of liberty. These people want an official list of the deceased and injured, because they have received several messages from the inmates, who warn them that they are victims of death threats.
