Spanish rapper Pablo Hasel received a new sentence this Thursday. The Hearing of Lleida confirmed the sentence that imputed the sentence of two and a half years in prison for threatening a witness in the trial against some urban guards and condemned him for the crimes of obstruction of justice, threats and mistreatment of work.
The sentence was known two days after the intense protests unleashed throughout the country, mainly in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid. The artist’s entry into prison was last Tuesday where he would serve a sentence of nine months and one day in jail for the crimes of glorifying terrorism and insults and slander against the Crown, for the content of 64 tweets and a song of his authorship.
This new sentence, which is still subject to appeal before the Supreme Court, could be added to the one that he has begun to execute this week if the Lleida court decides that Hasel must fulfill it without waiting for it to be final.
The rapper accumulates another previous sentence, of two years in prison, also for the crime of glorifying terrorism, issued in 2014 and suspended in 2019.
Hasel exhausted the voluntary term of admission to prison last Friday, and was locked up with some fifty of his defenders in the University of Lleida, where he was arrested by dozens of Mossos d’Escuadra agents who entered the rectory and who reported that there had been no serious incidents during his detention.
