Colombia signs an agreement to acquire the Sputnik-V vaccine against Covid-19

The country will begin vaccinating its population next Saturday, February 20, 2021, people over 60 years of age will have priority.

Fernando Ruiz, Minister of Health of Colombia, reported that the Colombian government reached a confidentiality agreement with the Russian authorities, for the acquisition of the vaccine against Covid-19, Sputnik-V.

This Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the official results of phase III of the trials of the Russian drug were published and the Colombian government also made official the agreement to acquire several doses, for its citizens.

“Almost three weeks ago we signed the confidentiality agreement for the Sputnik-V vaccine,” confirmed the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz.

The scientific journal The Lancet published the official results of the efficacy and efficiency of the Russian vaccine against Covid-19, where they revealed that this drug has an efficacy of 91.6% and is equally efficient, for all age groups.

Colombia will start the national vaccination plan next Saturday, February 20, 2021, where priority will be given to people over 60 years of age.
