ELN questions that the Colombian magazine Semana and other actors have echoed fanews
The National Liberation Army (ELN) clarified that the versions that Colombian media issued about alleged financing and interference in the internal affairs of Ecuador are false.
This Saturday, January 30, the Colombian magazine Semana published a report with an alleged report from the ELN organization on an alleged contribution of USD 80.000 to the presidential campaign of Andrés Arauz, candidate of the Union for Hope (UNES).
“In the last week, the intelligence agencies of the Colombian State have spread false versions, in which they present the National Liberation Army as if it were interfering in the internal affairs of Ecuador,” the ELN rejected.
The organization questions that, firstly, the magazine Semana “of the Colombian extreme right, and today in a social media account of the Ecuadorian citizen Michael Bliemsrieder”, have echoed these news that they described as false.
In addition, they rejected that the Duque government encourages this “information war to interfere in the ongoing elections process in neighboring Ecuador.”
They repudiate this interference and, towards the people of Ecuador, they expressed their respect and gratitude for having been the guarantor country and host of rounds of Peace Talks in previous years.
UNES leaders also rejected this information and assured that it is part of a dirty campaign against them, less than a week before the general elections on February 7.
