Suicide attack in Baghdad leaves 30 dead and 110 injured

Two men exploded in a popular used clothing market in Al Tayaran square.

This Thursday, January 21, 2021, a suicide attack was registered in the Al Tayaran square of Baghdad, capital of Iraq. According to the first police reports, 32 people died and another 110 were injured.

Two suicide bombers reportedly exploded in a popular used clothing market in Al Tayaran Square, while escaping from the police. The detonations were followed and affected most of the people close to the place.

So far no one assumes intellectual responsibility for the event, however, the authorities suspect militants of the Islamic State in Iraq. This area had not received an attack of this type for 18 months.

The first reports revealed that 30 people died and 110 are injured. However, the death toll may rise due to the severity of the injuries suffered by various citizens. Authorities have tightened their security checks, as hospitals receive more patients from Al Tayaran.
