The creators estimate that the world must think of a new meaning for normality and will also have to learn to live with the coronavirus.
This Monday, December 28, 2020, Ugur Sahin, co-founder and executive director of the pharmaceutical company BioNTech, commented that Covid-19 will be with humans, at least, for the next decade. Several countries are still struggling to reduce the wave of infections and have also started mass vaccination
In a virtual conference, Sahin affirmed that the world “will need” a new definition of normality and that it will also have to “learn to live” with Covid-19, for the next 10 years.
The vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer is being tested in more than 45 countries around the world, for which reason its developers commented that the drug can be adapted for the new strain of the virus discovered a few weeks ago in the United Kingdom.
“In principle, the beauty of our technology is that we can start directly to design a vaccine that completely mimics this new mutation,” said Ugur Sahin.
Pfizer and BioNTech hope that people who receive the vaccine can be immune for at least a year.
