This is the second complaint against Sebastían Piñera for violating sanitary measures during the pandemic.

The Guarantee Court of Los Andes accepted this Wednesday the request for a complaint filed by the lawyer Luis Mariano Rendón against the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, who is accused of violating the sanitary norm that requires the use of a mask on public roads

The complaint was filed after the head of government attended a home delivery activity last Sunday, without wearing his mask. At the inauguration of the Monte Andino housing complex in the Los Andes commune, Piñera was captured by the cameras approaching a woman without respecting the distance established by the sanitary measures.

“We are all equal before the law. When one commits recklessness or irresponsibility, it has costs (…) ”, indicated lawyer Rendón.

This is not the first time that the Chilean president has appeared in public without a mask. On December 5, images of Piñera taking pictures on Zapallar beach, northwest of Santiago, were disseminated on social networks, without wearing a mask or respecting the safety distance.

In November, the health authorities in Chile announced measures to prevent the spread of Covid 19 during the summer holidays that begin in December in the southern hemisphere. Among the indications, the prohibition to remove the mask on the beaches, except when bathing, stands out.

The penalties for breaching this type of protocol are penalized in Chile with minor imprisonment in its minimum degree or with a fine that can range between about 400 and 13.600 dollars.
