In Ecuador, the TerramAz regional project was launched, the initiative covers the diversity and life strip of the National Park and the Yasuní buffer zone, in the Orellana and Pastaza provinces.
President Lenín Moreno reported through his social networks that France joins the fight against deforestation in Yasuní and 1.2 million euros will be allocated to the protection of biodiversity and the development of sustainable agricultural and forestry systems.
The Ministry of the Environment and Water (MAAE) participated, last week, in the presentation of the TerramAz Regional Project organized by the French Development Agency (AFD).
The TerramAz Regional Project is the first program financed by AFD in Amazonian territories and which is part of the Alliance for the Preservation of Tropical Forests, an initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron.
This initiative arises from the strategic alliance between Ecuador and France, with the main objective of supporting regional and national institutions in the fight against deforestation and in the development of sustainable agricultural and forestry systems in the diversity and life strip of the National Park. Yasuní, and in the buffer zone of the same, in the provinces of Orellana and Pastaza, indicated the MAAE.
It has an investment of 1.2 million euros and a duration of 4 years.
Leonardo Chang, Deputy Minister of the Environment, stated that “the alliance that has been made with France is a valuable resource to continue our actions in defense of forests.”
