Argentine Senate continues debate on abortion law

The leader Delfina Rossi commented that “pregnancy is a social issue, not a female secret.”

The Senate of Argentina continues this Monday the debate on the draft Law of Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy, which was approved on December 11 by the Chamber of Deputies.

The draft law on abortion in Argentina will have its last vote on December 29 by the legislative body.

The ordinary session of the Argentine parliament is expected to attend the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, the Minister of Women, Gender and Diversity, Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta, as well as the Legal and Technical Secretary of the Presidency, Vilma Ibarra.

In this sense, the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies stipulated, based on the laws of the South American country and the internal regulations of the parliament, the discussion in the Justice, Criminal Affairs and Health commissions, and Women’s Banking.

It should be recalled that 131 deputies approved on Friday (December 11) the legislative project that provides for guaranteeing the self-determination of women in the initial process of pregnancy.

Social organizations and women’s movements have defended the initiative for which they have fought throughout its history.

Meanwhile, the feminist leader, Delfina Rossi, commented through her Twitter account that “pregnancy is a social issue, not a female secret. Society should accompany (or not) motherhood, but above all let us gain sovereignty over our bodies”.

Similarly, Rossi added in the chain of tweets that “any interruption of pregnancy needs a corresponding work leave with pay. And the main companion should also have a chord.”
