Ecuador exceeds 200.000 cases of COVID-19

With 1.141 cases, Ecuador registers a new peak of daily infections on December 10, 2020 and the country reaches 200.379 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 13.850 deaths due to the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, 9.320 people died with a positive diagnosis. To this figure are added the 4.530 deaths that were probably caused by the respiratory virus.

Nationwide, there are 460 stable hospitalized patients and 346 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 806 interned in one day. While 205 more people were discharged from hospital.

Since the start of the pandemic, the country has registered 174.188 recovered patients, which represents 87.97% of all infections. The indicator is updated every Sunday and the percentage of recovered has decreased from November to December.

Pichincha registers 553 new infections and eight more deaths in the last 24 hours. The province, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, has a total of 71.677 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. Quito adds 516 more infected and the total number of positives in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 66.028.
