Doctors warn of an increase in cases in the following days, as a result of the more than 5.000 agglomerations registered in the four days of the last holiday
After registering a slight decrease in hospital occupancy, the Temporary Attention Center of the Municipality of Quito this week saw a double increase in patients with COVID-19.
The CAT, which was created by the excessive increase of infected people who needed hospitalization, treated 25 patients until two weeks ago. Now, this number has doubled and there are 54 internees, of which four are in serious condition.
Dr. Paúl Carrasco, director of the Center, explained that this increase is due to the relaxation of the public on biosecurity measures. “Social distancing has not been met and citizens think that the virus has moved away,” he added.
Until this November 4, Quito continues to be the epicenter of the pandemic in the country with 55.191 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Doctors warned that the figures will increase in the following days, due to the more than 5.000 agglomerations registered nationwide. Authorities reported 1.055 clandestine parties and 4.256 scandals during the four days of the holiday.
Quito was the city with the most agglomerations registered. Only on the night of Saturday, October 31, more than 600 people gathered in the Shyris and South Tribunes, where they found people sucking.
