The Ministry of Health confirms that more than 13 thousand died with Covid-19.
Between January and November 2019, the civil registry registered a total of 103.372 deaths, of which 65.497 are deaths from various causes. It is important to note that the coronavirus pandemic leaves historical figures regarding deaths in Ecuador.
“In the month of July there is a 44% increase”, explains the general director of the Civil Registry, Rodrigo Áviles. There are around 100.000 deaths including coronavirus victims.
According to the mathematician Juan José Illingworth, this figure is closer to the reality of the country. Since, for the Ministry of Health in its report it indicates that between confirmed and probable, there are 13.139 deaths from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The expert said that in the provinces of Santa Elena, Guayas and El Oro they report more deaths than their normal averages.
These figures coincide between the civil registry and Illingworth in the calculations where they indicate that the death curve varies and there may be spikes, but looking at the latest records, they do not resemble the reality that was in March and April of this year.
