We are more outraged because the government has abandoned the people, he added.
Jaime Vargas, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), warned that October could return and be stronger than in 2019, as he highlighted that doctors, students, teachers and the population in general are hit by the economic measures that the Government has taken, taking advantage, he said, of the pandemic.
The indigenous leader indicated that a year after what happened in the national strike, the Conaie is evaluating the facts and the commitments assumed by the Lenín Moreno regime but never fulfilled: “he did not listen.”
He reported that on this day an Extended Council of the Conaie will be held, where the pertinent measures will be taken: “And if we have to return to the streets we are ready because we are more outraged since the Government has abandoned the people, with unemployment and again releasing the oil ”.
“We are going to convene national unity to make processes viable and if we have to act, the people will decide.”
He regretted that the regime takes advantage of the pandemic and insists with the measures of October last year liberalizing oil prices, which could even affect the price of domestic gas: “They trampled on rights and created another corruption pandemic. This is the worst government in history and that is why our rejection ”.
“October lives and will return. We hope to build a fighting platform in the process “
Vargas stressed that October will be declared a month of resistance and struggle, so on the 10th of the same month an act of unity will be carried out where the people’s struggle will be ratified and at the same time on the 12th he announced that a small mobilization will be carried out towards Prosecutor’s Office to file a lawsuit against humanity against the State: “We will go with all the documentation prepared by the Inocencio Tucumbi Victims Association together with Conaie.”
