Ecuador reports 164.908 confirmed cases and 12.608 deaths due to the coronavirus.
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) of Ecuador reported 1.716 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 20 additional deaths related to this disease, this Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
The MSP presented the results of 6.215 tests processed in the last 24 hours. Of these, 1.716 (28%) were positive and 4.499 (72%) were negative. With this, the confirmed cases amount to 164.908 and those discarded, to 312.586.
In the last two weeks, confirmed cases have increased faster in Pichincha, Galápagos and Bolívar.
The deaths related to Covid-19 rise to 12.608 and 4.311 probable cases of Covid-19.
536.849 samples have been taken, of which 59.355 are dammed, with no results in official reports. Ecuador is, along with Bolivia, the country in the region that performs the fewest tests per number of inhabitants.
The MSP registered 141.759 recovered patients last Sunday. The Ministry explained that these are people who, 29 days after diagnosis, are still alive. The government will update this figure every week.
Until October 25, the Civil Registry figures reported 37.070 deaths above the average of the previous two years, only during the pandemic. These are deaths from all kinds of causes.
Carchi, Azuay and El Oro are the provinces with the highest mortality rate in recent weeks. (C.D.A.)
