When analyzing what the IDB and the IMF determines, it can be identified that the Government of Ecuador was the one that did the least to protect the labor market in the region, as it prioritized international financial interests, he added.
Byron Villacís, former director of the Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), said he was concerned about the figures issued by the National Government on employment in Ecuador, where supposedly the Humanitarian Support Law allowed the recovery of more than 800 thousand jobs: ” The statistics do not reveal the true working condition of Ecuador (…) The conditions are worse, therefore the Government is trying to make up something that is not real ”.
He explained that there are errors in the reading that the Government of Lenín Moreno gives to the figures because, in the first place, he compares the telephone survey carried out in May-June, with the one carried out in September personally, in that sense he highlighted that they are two different methodologies that cannot be taken to determine an outcome.
“The second mistake is to compare May – June with September and not with the same month of the previous year. September 2020 should be compared with September 2019 and there you can see that the unemployment figures are even more serious”.
He described as a political, biased and incorrect reading, the government’s pronouncement which attributed “the recovery of employment” to the Humanitarian Law; When this regulation, at Villacís’ discretion, has worsened the working conditions of those who still have their jobs, since they have reduced their salary and increased the working day.
“When analyzing what the IDB and the IMF determines, it can be identified that the Government of Ecuador was the one that did the least in the region, to protect the labor market, since it preferred to prioritize international financial interests, he added.
Villacís mentioned that the only ones that the regulations promoted by the Moreno regime helped were a few companies that are in the hands of four or five families in order to free themselves from workers without paying compensation or social security.
In any case, he stressed that a figure of fraud has been incurred because the figures issued by the INEC do not belong to the Government but to the people since it is a Public Institution that is managed with public money and therefore the information that comes from there it belongs to the people and cannot be used to distort reality.
