This company was involved in spying on Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
El País newspaper in Spain published an investigation that shows how the Spanish security company, UC Global SL, which was involved in the illegal surveillance and harassment of Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, also spied on the phones of the two daughters of the former President Rafael Correa, the movements, meetings and activities of the former president and, presumably, they reported this information to the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno.
The report reveals that this company installed ‘Trojans’ on the mobile phones of the former president’s daughters to gain access to their Facebook, Messenger and mobile messaging accounts. In addition, they would have used spy programs to gain access to all his information, in order to learn more about the former president’s movements.
Everything would have originated in October 2014, when the two young women received two iPhones with the excuse that they had a geolocation system to know where they were at all times. Both mobile phones had two Tradesegur Trojans incorporated “that allowed absolute control of both [devices] from the UC Global S.L. headquarters.” in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz).
A year later, they were handed two more modern mobile phones, with the Flexispy system, a spy application that monitors conversations. On both occasions this information was withheld from them and their parents.
In the same way, a protected witness, a former employee of this security company, has contributed a conversation by Morales in which he boasted of allegedly transferring private information from Correa to Lenín Moreno, current president of Ecuador.
Correa was called by the alias of Romeo and in an email dated April 8, 2018, there is talk of an alleged meeting of Morales’ team with the Presidency of Ecuador.
“In relation to the activities that Romeo has developed … the reports that we have been developing for the SPP [Presidential Protection Service], it would be good if a G. O. worker could deliver them at her meeting with the Presidency.”
In another communication there would also be evidence that this company gave information on Correa to President Moreno.
“The strategy is to show that we can generate this type of information and that is why we are useful for the Presidency.”
The same report would contain a conversation, dated August 9, 2017, on the Telegram platform, in which Morales consulted with one of his workers about the possibility of introducing Trojans into the former president’s electronic devices and learning about their conversations.
“Okay. If you are going to touch their computers, is it possible to do the same as we have for telephones? ”He asks in an email to one of his employees.
El País accessed this information in the judicial process initiated by former President Correa against former military officer David Morales, owner of the company for alleged crimes against privacy and disclosure of secrets.
