Buenos Aires Police stopped their protests after reaching an agreement to increase their salary

About 40.000 police officers will collect the new salary increase of 44.000 pesos announced this Thursday.

Argentine police officers protesting in the Buenos Aires region began to remove the fences stationed in Puente 12, the main area of ​​the demonstrations, in addition to Adrogué and the center of Lanús on Thursday.

The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, announced a salary increase for officers in the region, which will increase the out-of-pocket salary of 39.500 agents to 44.000 pesos.

It also includes an increase in the amount for the purchase of uniforms, which was frozen at 1.130 pesos and will now be 5.000. An increase in the value of overtime was also decreed, which will triple to reach 120 pesos.

Although the Buenos Aires Police demanded salary improvements, allied with the Cambiemos party and some radicalized elements against the Government of Alberto Fernández showed their support for the protests.

Kicillof assured that “we have taken a fundamental political decision, which comes to pay off a debt that the provincial State has with its police for a long time. It is a first step to take a leap in quality in the professionalism of the Police of the province of Buenos Aires ».
