CAL suspended the session in which political trials against María Paula Romo and Richard Martínez were to be assessed

The call was at 6:00 p.m., it was installed at 9:00 p.m., and was suspended by the president of the Assembly, César Litardo.

On September 1, the Legislature’s Administrative Council (CAL) suspended the meeting in which the impeachment requests against the Minister of Government, María Paula Romo, and of Finance, Richard Martínez, were to be discussed. The session was installed three hours late and was suspended after 30 minutes by the president of the National Assembly, César Litardo, without specifying the reasons.

The Minister of Government has one request for impeachment and the Minister of Economy has five. In this session it was also planned to qualify the request for impeachment against the president of the Participation Council, Christian Cruz, for the accusations she faces for her disability card.

The assemblywoman for the Christian Social Party and member of CAL, Cristina Reyes, warned about this situation on her social networks. She indicated that there would be an attempt to cover up the officials.

“Another attempt to cover up the Distribution Ministers: The CAL convened at 6:00 p.m. has not yet been installed. We no longer want any more of these unethical tricks to avoid political trials, the National Assembly cannot be an accomplice or a cover-up for the robbery of the nation! “

The former President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, also indicated that César Litardo allegedly intended to “save” Romo from the impeachment against him, for this he would have the support of other members of the CAL.
