Andrés Arauz is a representative of progressivism, not correísmo, clarifies Gabriela Rivadeneira

We have been calling for months to break the absurd discussion between correísmo and anticorreísmo (…) Andrés is not mistaken, it is necessary to build bridges, not necessarily electoral but in a programmatic agreement.

Gabriela Rivadeneira, former president of the National Assembly, pointed out that months ago the Citizen Revolution made a call to break up the absurd discussion between correísmo and anticorreísmo. For this reason, Andrés Arauz asks the grassroots of the indigenous movement to build a programmatic agenda that allows reconstituting the national and popular project in Ecuador.

“The speech of Andrés Arauz seems important to me, who shows that he is a representative of progressivism, not correísmo, and with sufficient breadth and political maturity.”

Rivadeneira indicated that the leadership and the indigenous bases cannot be put in the same assessment, because in this electoral process it was possible to notice how the leadership is anchored to the right, as its own spokesmen have denounced.

“It seems important to us that the grassroots of the indigenous movement have their own voice.”

On this basis, she indicated that Arauz is not wrong when building bridges that do not necessarily have to be electoral but framed in a programmatic agreement:

“That allows us to be inclusive because the country is at stake and we cannot sit down to discuss whether it is more or less correista”.

In any case, she maintained that with the Andrés Arauz-Rafael Correa pairing, the membership of the Citizen Revolution feels motivated and hopeful.

Although she clarified that this table will be ratified in the primaries this weekend, in which Carlos Rabascall will also participate:

“We are happy that an important expectation has been raised. We are going to have many pictures of the new generation that will be visible on the ballot ”.
