Spanish court processes complaint of espionage to Rafael Correa in Assange case

The company Undercover Global (UC GLobal) is already being investigated also for the alleged espionage of Julian Assange

A judge from the Spanish National Court admitted the complaint filed by former President Rafael Correa against the Spanish company Undercover Global (UC GLobal), for alleged espionage of Julian Assange, at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Judge José de la Mata agrees to join this complaint to the case in which he was already investigating the alleged espionage of Assange and that he will process in the “Correa separate piece”, according to EFE.

Assange was at the Ecuadorian embassy in London from 2012 to April 2019, when the Government of the president of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, decided to withdraw the political asylum to the founder of Wikileaks.

Days ago, the international media, The West Australian, published an investigation, in which it reveals that the Spanish security firm UC Global, which worked at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, illegally spied on and recorded Julian Assange’s fiancée and his baby.

In addition, he denounced that this company also had extorted an Ecuadorian diplomat with intimate photographs, which were stolen from her hard drive, to extend the employment contract and allow them to continue spying on Assange.

Carlos Poveda, the lawyer for Julian Assange, questioned the silence of the State Attorney General’s Office for the espionage complaint to which his client had been subjected during his stay at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Meanwhile, in Spain, the crime is already being investigated, in which Ecuadorian authorities and the Foreign Ministry itself, which also recognizes the crime, would have to respond, but has not ruled:

“This shows that they are selective. In some things they visit the National Assembly, they visit the Judiciary and they question, but in others they remain silent, ”he said.
