Ecuador registers 70.329 infected and Quito exceeds 10.000 confirmed cases with Covid19
Ecuador exceeds 70 thousand infected and registers more than 8.500 deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the last 24 hours, 759 new infections were registered and there were 45 more deaths nationwide.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health, there are 70.329 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 95.450 discarded, 5,158 deaths with a positive prognosis and 3.343 deaths suspected of carrying the virus.
Regarding confirmed cases: 33.439 are in home isolation, 759 are stable hospitalized and 332 with a reserved prognosis. Nationwide, there are 1.091 hospitalized patients, while 9.200 people were discharged from hospital.
According to the report, there are no new patients recovered for 15 days and it remains at 5,900 since July 1.
In Pichincha there are 11.079 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 588 deaths. In the last 24 hours, 159 new infections have been registered in the province. Quito is the most affected canton and amounts to 10.035 infected. There were 142 new infections in one day.
Pichincha had 3.148 more infections in the first 15 days of July. Quito increased 2.782 positive cases and has a difference of just 1.366 fewer cases than Guayaquil, one of the cities most affected at the start of the pandemic.
The capital of Guayas reports this July 15 11.401 confirmed cases.
