Brazil: a religious priest calls Bolsonaro bandit

(Prensa Latina) A religious priest in Brazil called the faithful who voted for Jair Bolsonaro to apologize to God for electing a bandit as president, digital newspaper Brasil 247 reported.

‘Bolsonaro is useless. Bolsonaro is worth nothing. And whoever voted for him must confess, apologize to God the sin committed, because a bandit was elected as a president,’ Father Edson Adelio Tagliaferro, of the Mother of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, in Artur Nogueira, Sao Paulo state, said on Sunday.

During a sermon broadcast online, the parish priest demonstrated that he was not exempt from politics, although he was warned by the faithful and even by his own mother, and claimed that Jesus died on a cross for ”telling the truth.’

During the mass, the priest prayed for the dead, including the coronavirus victims, and reminded the faithful that ‘we still do not have a health minister.’

Brazil reported 1,603,055 cases and 64,867 deaths from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, causing the Covid-19 disease, according to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health published this Sunday.

The health emergency, along with an acute political, institutional and economic crisis, and the government’s corruption scandals, aggravate the atmosphere of instability in Brazil a year and a half after Bolsonaro took power.
