However, the liquidations of the workers will be paid.
The Minister of Transport and Public Works, Gabriel Martínez, reported that Tame has USD400 million in liabilities and USD70 million in assets, which means that he has a negative equity of USD330 million, which will finally be the cost of liquidation.
“There are debts to the public sector such as USD150 million to Petroecuador and those debts due to negative equity cannot be honored.”
The official explained that within these values the liquidation to the workers is not contemplated, which will be for USD16 million and that, he assured, they will be paid.
“At the moment we are working to pay them the salaries of March, April and May (…) we hope to solve it in the coming days.”
Regarding the Tame routes, Martínez explained that the Government is working on a strategy that forces private airlines to take unprofitable flights in exchange for one that is.
“Like Latam, which has asked for Galapagos, which is a profitable route but in exchange for taking deficit routes (…) such as Manta, Santa Rosa, Coca and Dios through Loja where there is a problem on the Catamayo track due to its location but work has been done in an instrumental approach so that the plane can land ”.
In this context, he explained that the routes that are missing are Esmeraldas and Lago Agrio, for which he will work under the same concept with private airlines which show openness to this system.
He also referred to the Tame-Amazonía subsidiary, which is an air taxi that picks up people from small airports to take them to larger ones in Coca and Lago Agrío; This operation will be guaranteed by the Amazon Technical Secretariat, which has procured the budget for its work.
“In this company there are only two planes, an administrative staff, three pilots and it is financed.”
