“If you want to win, do it at the polls!” Said former President Correa, after the publication of this report by the control body
The General Comptroller of the State (CGE) approved the final report of the special examination to follow up on recommendations in the National Electoral Council (CNE). This report indicates that there was a breach of the recommendation to withdraw the registration of the political groups “Social Justice”, “Podemos”, “Liberad es Pueblo” and “Fuerza Compromiso Social”.
The control body indicates that there was a breach by the members of the Plenary of the CNE who, with their vote, approved resolutions so that the National Movements continue to be registered and maintain their legal status in breach of constitutional and legal requirements.
In August 2019, the Comptroller’s Office audited the CNE signature review process and found that these four movements were approved, despite the fact that they had not complied with the necessary signatures.
“Justicia” belongs to Jimmy Salazar, husband of Pamela Martínez, prosecuted in the Sobornos case. “Podemos”, by the former Azuay, Paúl Carrasco. “Liberad es Pueblo” by Gary Moreno, brother of President Lenín Moreno. And “Fuerza Compromiso Social”, made up of the politicians who disassociated themselves from Alianza PAIS and followed the leadership of Rafael Correa.
“If you want to win, do it at the polls!” Said former President Correa, after the publication of this new report. “(Pablo) Celi is desperate, because he knows that he will have to answer to true justice,” he added.
It is planned that this Friday, June 19, at 6:00 p.m., the Plenary of the CNE will meet and process “regarding the cancellation of registration” in the registry of political organizations.
