Relatives of doctors and nurses who have died infected with COVID-19 in hospitals demand compensation from the State for damages.
The case of Marianella, who was 28 years old, died with coronavirus. She worked in a Guayaquil Social Security hospital and was pregnant. She had maternity leave for belonging to the vulnerable group. Her husband claims that she was infected when she was forced to go to the hospital to sign papers.
Marianella had an emergency cesarean delivery. Thus they saved the baby, who was born with complications. Now her husband was left alone and with 2 children.
This is one of many stories from family members of doctors and nurses who have died with contracted coronavirus in hospitals.
According to the Guayas College of Nurses, only 11 have died in Guayaquil.
Until April 2020, the Ministry of Health recorded the death of 30 health professionals, while the College of Physicians of Ecuador records 90. (C.D.A.)
