The leader of the Cotopaxi indigenous movement, Leonidas Iza, warned that there will be a social outbreak and mobilization for the economic measures announced by the government of President Lenín Moreno.
“A national strike, like the one in October 2019, will not only depend on the leaders, but on the reaction of the majority of the citizenry,” said Iza.
He advanced that they will analyze the conditions that each sector proposes.
One of the government measures is the elimination of the fuel subsidy. This measure was decreed in October 2019 and sparked popular reaction and the indigenous uprising.
