President Moreno extends the state of emergency until June 16

President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, extended the state of emergency for 30 more days, starting on May 16, as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which leaves more than 30,000 infected and 2,000 deaths in the country.

The President announced that, with the backing of the Security Council, they decided to extend the state of emergency, which took place since March 16, when the first two deaths from coronavirus were reported in the country.

The country began, from May 4, entered a new phase: from isolation to social distancing. All the cantons decided to start in red, that is, keep the current restrictions. The curfew is maintained and starts at 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

In addition, President Moreno referred to a budget review of the entities that make up the Security Council. “Great predisposition of COSEPE to proceed to a comprehensive reengineering of the institutional budgets of the functions of the State!” he pointed.

He explained that they will be between 10% and 15% without affecting missionary activities. “Until May 30, we all must adopt the corresponding measures, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws, with the accompaniment of the Ministry of Finance,” he added.
