Until today, no cantonal COE has notified the color of the traffic light for May 4

Each cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) must decide until this May 1 the color of the traffic light with which the new phase of social distancing will begin on May 4. Until this April 30, the national COE has not received any notification.

This Wednesday, April 29, the latest reports, reports and recommendations were delivered to the mayors of Ecuador so that they make the signaling decision.

Several cantons, through social networks and media interviews, have reported their decision to start in red, that is, with the same restrictions and only the opening of shops online and at home.

The minister said that, if a canton does not notify the decision to the national COE, until Friday, May 1, “we will understand that they will start in red.” In addition, he clarified that no new responsibilities are delivered to the municipalities, only deciding the degree and speed of opening of certain productive and economic activities, according to the color of the traffic light.

The new phase of the pandemic in Ecuador begins on May 4: from isolation to social distancing.
