Around 500 to 600 deceased are uncollected at home for 4 days, says Juan Sebastián Roldán

He acknowledged that the usual daily record of deaths was added to about 40 more per day.

The Cabinet Secretary, Juan Sebastián Roldán, indicated that around 20 to 40 deaths from coronavirus were registered daily in Guayaquil after the pandemic, in addition to the usual number of deaths that are between 35 and 50.

The official explained that if that number is multiplied by five or six days that it took the Government to form the Task Force to raise the dead, it could be seen that there were 500 to 600 deaths in their homes.

“We apologize to those families for having to live with that complex situation of spending three and even four days with their deceased in their homes.”

He assured that at present the citizenship, in these circumstances, does not wait more than five or six hours for the removal of the corpse to take place, which is subsequently buried in one of the two holy fields destined for this purpose.

Regarding infections, he said that the population cannot be trusted and say that everything is under control, although he acknowledged that there is more tranquility and that everything is better directed by the Ministry of Health and the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS).

He stressed that in the last two months the Government has transferred USD300 million to the health sector to face the health crisis.
