The fall in the price of oil and the outbreak of the coronavirus are factors that affect the economy of the country.
The Chamber of Industries and Production of Ecuador called on Ecuadorians to be aware of the economic crisis that the country is going through.
After meeting with President Lenin Moreno and the ministerial cabinet, the head of the Chamber of Industries, Pablo Zambrano, indicated that he was informed of the “serious economic situation” and warned that this will not last weeks, but months, so urgent action is necessary.
He said that the national economy was already in poor condition with the fall in the price of oil, which is the main export product of the country, and to this was added the presence of the coronavirus or COVID-19.
He argued that the demand for exports to markets such as China and other countries in Asia has declined significantly, so it is necessary to make other types of decisions.
In this context, he announced that the entity will support the measures taken by the Government to maintain public accounts.
He added that cuts and economic adjustments should be established, especially in relation to public spending and recommended that the State not spend more than it receives.
He considered it pertinent to rationalize public spending and in terms of subsidies, he said that it is necessary to focus them.
He reiterated that as a private sector they will support the decisions of the Executive, in order to safeguard the health of workers, as well as prevent any type of shortage.
