Lula wants to govern Brazil with priority for the poorest people

Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who leads all polls for the October elections, affirmed that in order to govern Brazil it is necessary to always put the lives of the poorest in first place.

“People must know that it only makes sense to win elections if they do not forget that the poor people were not born to be poor all their lives”, the pre-candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) affirmed in a political rally in the municipality of Garanhuns, state of Pernambuco (northeast), where he was born 76 years ago.

He assured that the aridity of the Northeast is a phenomenon of nature, “but nobody needed to go hungry because of the drought. It is because of the lack of shame of the people who governed that country for so many years”.

In his speech, which ended the Vamos Juntos Por Brasil Movement event in that district, the former labor leader admitted that recovering the country will be a laborious process, due to the destruction caused by Jair Bolsonaro’s government.

Lula and former governor Gerardo Alckmin, his running mate in the presidential ticket, are winding up today their visit to Permanduco with a rally in Recife, capital of the territorial division.
