The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday reported that Covid-19 cases have soared by 30% worldwide in the last 15 days.
Tedros Adhanom, WHO Director-General, said such a rise was due to the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants and to the fact that coroenavirus tests got reduced considerably.
Another important element – in Adhanom’s standpoint – is that treatments to prevent the disease from worsening are not being provided sufficiently in advance.
The WHO chief urged to guarantee vaccination to the entire world, access to more effective treatments, the application of booster doses especially for the elderly, patients with chronic ailments, the immunocompromised, and public health professionals.
“The Covid-19 pandemic is not over and it can wreak havoc,” said the WHO director-general
