Russia responds with new measures to foreign sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a decree establishing new economic measures in response to hostile actions taken by some countries and international organizations, the Kremlin press service reported.

The document was published on the official Russian legal information portal under the title, “On the application of special retaliatory economic measures in connection with unfriendly actions of certain countries and international organizations.”

The new plan prohibits carrying out transactions and fulfilling economic and commercial obligations with foreign individuals and legal entities subject to restrictive measures.

It also suspends the export of raw materials and products from Russia for the benefit of natural and legal persons subject to sanctions by Russia.

According to the document, the decree responds to the unfriendly actions and contrary to international law of the United States, foreign countries and international organizations that joined them to deprive or limit the property rights of this country, its citizens and legal entities.

The president directed that the federal, state authorities, regional and local governments and other organizations and individuals under the jurisdiction of Russia take into account the new prohibitions when carrying out their economic and commercial activities with foreign counterparts.

According to the Castellum.AI database, over 4,350 new restrictive measures were enacted against Russia since mid-February and, above all, after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, in addition to more than 2,750 that were already in force.
