Prime Minister of Afghanistan asks to investigate growth of begging

The Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Mohammad Hassan Akhund, asked the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to investigate the growing number of beggars in the capital and find solutions to address the problem.

During the 31st cabinet session of the Islamic Emirate (Taliban government), Akhund directed various agencies to address the problem of poverty and unemployment, especially the increase in begging in Kabul; and asked them to present a comprehensive plan to be implemented as soon as possible.

According to residents of the capital, beggars are present in many of the roads in the city these days.

Analysts say that the main reason for the rise in the number of homeless and widespread poverty in the country came after the political changes last August, when the previous government fell and the Taliban returned to power.

According to analyst Shakir Yaghoubi, the economic situation of households is moving towards absolute poverty, a situation that comes when many private companies stopped their operations after the August 2021 regime change.
