Almost 40% of people in Somalia could die of starvation due to drought, conflicts and inflation, a UN agencies report distributed in this capital warned.
Of the six million people at risk, the most at threat are children whose parents are unable to face the inflation of up to 400%, the report signed by the World Food Program, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the humanitarian agency OCHA and the Children´s Fund.
The situation is similar of that experienced in 2011 when Somalia suffered a famine that lasted several months and claimed thousands of lives, but it is worse as the current lack of funding prevents assistance to the victims, the text adds.
