Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday that if he wins the elections in October, the people will end fascism in Brazil, in a clear allusion to the government of extreme rightwing President Jair Bolsonaro.
“If the polarization goes on like this until September, I am sure that the Brazilian people will strike a blow to fascism and restore democracy in Brazil,” Lula stated during an interview granted to O Tempo newspaper and Super Noticia radio.
Regarding the possibility of Bolsonaro’s reelection, the founder of the Workers’ Party (PT) questioned whether the former military officer would get enough votes to run in a second round.
He pointed out that if he becomes the Worker’s Party candidate, he will be contesting an election against someone who does not like education, black people and women.
We are competing with someone who, according to the press, tells eight lies a day and the only thing he likes “is to organize the so-called motociatas (motorcycle caravans) has “never visited someone who died of Covid-19.”
Asked about the polarization of Brazilian politics, Lula answered that he saw no problem with it.
“This word polarization I don’t know who was the genius who invented it as something problematic.
Polarization exists in any country when there is a dispute between two people,” he stressed.
