Chilean Finance Minister Mario Marcel on Friday has announced new priorities including to increase minimum wage gradually in his four-year term.
In an interview with local press, Mr. Marcel specified that his ministry´s goal is to raise salary from 350,000 Chilean Pesos ($430) to about 500,000 Chilean Pesos ($620).
Mr. Marcel considered this is not the time to go into details, but they will begin to move in such a direction.
The finance minister went into raptures over significance of new fiscal reform, one of President Gabriel Boric’s campaign promises, while adding it must be viable and sustainable over time.
Another priorities is to fight off inflation emerged due to the Covid-19 pandemic, accounting for 7.7%, the highest in 14 years.
