Ecuador signs loans for USD 175 million with CAF

The CAF (Development Bank of Latin America) and Ecuador signed three credit contracts that will help improve rural roads, access to irrigation and drainage services in the provinces of the country, implement national plans for education, drinking water and sanitation .

The Minister of Economy and Finance of Ecuador, Simón Cueva, and the Executive President of CAF, Sergio Díaz-Granados, signed three credit contracts worth USD 175 million in favor of Ecuador, during an event held in Asunción.

“The first contract, for USD 75 million, will be allocated to the Broad Approach Sector Program, will support planning and development in road matters (secondary and tertiary), access to irrigation and drainage services in the country’s provinces, and will promote the implementation of planning and management tools to optimize the follow-up of interventions,” the statement said.

And he added that the second credit contract, for USD 50 million, will contribute to the implementation of the National Water and Sanitation Plan 2021-2025, in particular in relation to the improvement of “the governance and management of drinking water services and sanitation.

The third contract was for USD 50 million, and is intended to recognize and strengthen policy actions for the implementation of the National Development Plan in the Education Sector 2021-2025.

“These credits demonstrate our commitment to continue supporting the Government of Ecuador in its development programs, and thereby contribute to sustainable growth that seeks to improve the quality of life of all Ecuadorians,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF. .
