563 children orphaned by cases of femicide will receive a bonus of USD 125 in Ecuador

563 orphaned children due to cases of femicide will receive a bonus of approximately USD 125. This was announced by the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, this Tuesday, March 8, within the framework of the commemoration of International Women’s Day.

In an event held in the Parque de la Mujer, north of Quito, the president signed the decree with which this aid will be granted.

Women from indigenous communities, representatives of organizations and neighborhood leaders participated in the event.

In this place, the Secretary of Human Rights, Bernarda Ordóñez, explained that the amount of the bonus will be regulated in accordance with the value of the unified basic salary and with the alimony table.

This bonus will be given to boys and girls from 0 to 18 years old, from the moment of the preliminary investigation of the crime of femicide, murder or death by rape.
