Iran supreme leader urges nuclear energy progress amid talks

(Prensa Latina) Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has said Tehran needs nuclear energy, not weapons, amid signs of a breakthrough in long-running negotiations to revive a landmark atomic deal with world powers.

“Enemies are making cruel moves against our nuclear energy issue, (putting) sanctions on nuclear energy that they know is peaceful,” he said. “They do not want Iran to achieve this great and significant progress.”

Iran’s enemies seek to deprive them of the use of peaceful nuclear energy and that those who oppose Iran are trying to split the people from the system.

For such purposes, Ali Khamenei said, they use economic pressure, with sanctions policies and also use fake news.

In this regard, Ali Khamenei called on young Iranians to oppose and fight these two tendencies with Iranian arguments: economic hostility and media hostility.
