In Ecuador, people over 40 years of age will be able to access booster doses against COVID-19

40-year-olds will be able to access the booster dose
from Monday, February 7, 2022. The requirement is that they have five months after applying the second dose against COVID-19.

Under the same time interval, the following population group may receive the booster dose: pregnant and lactating women; strategic sector and armed forces personnel; health personnel, education, universities (teachers, administrative staff and students) and institutions (public and private).

This information was released by the Ministry of Public Health, through a statement. There it was added that users with moderate and severe immunosuppression, aged 18 and over, can also apply the booster dose once five months have elapsed since the completion of their primary scheme (three doses).

“People between the ages of 18 and 39 will be able to access the reinforcement after six months of the second. The booster dose is available at the points established by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and vaccination centers authorized for this purpose. These measures correspond to a vaccination and prevention strategy due to the number of infections registered in recent weeks.

The institution added that vaccination against COVID-19 is universal and free, and generates immune protection of the population against coronavirus.
