(Prensa Latina) China and Argentina today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to channel cooperation through the Silk Road and Belt initiative, called to build an international mega-platform of trade and economic relations with shared profits.
The MoU was signed during official talks between Presidents Xi Jinping and Alberto Fernandez and envisages an increase in bilateral trade and investment.
According to a joint communiqué, the parties also sealed agreements in sectors such as green development, digital economy, space, scientific and technical innovation, education, culture, agriculture and nuclear medicine, as well as the use of the BeiDu Chinese satellite navigation system.
Fernandez also proposed to open a consulate general in Chengdu, in the southwestern province of Sichuan.
Apart from the pacts, the two leaders decided to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, consolidate political trust and exchanges at different levels.
They announced the launching of the China-Argentina Friendship and Cooperation Year to celebrate half a century of diplomatic relations, ratified mutual support in matters related to their sovereignty and agreed to maintain more coordination and communication on international issues.
