(Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Argentine counterpart, Alberto Fernandez, in this capital on Thursday, that he hoped to continue personal contacts in Argentina and Russia.
Putin expressed satisfaction with the meeting, which he said that he had been looking forward to for a long time, Russian presidential press reported.
Putin thanked Argentina for being the first country in the Western hemisphere to register the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and noted that the first contract for the supply of this vaccine was almost completed, with the delivery of about 15 of 20 million doses agreed upon.
For his part, the Argentine president thanked Russia for its help in fight Covid-19, including the supply of vaccines against the disease.
The Russian president’s advisor for International Affairs, Yuri Ushakov, said that the two heads of State talked about cooperation in innovative fields, including pharmaceuticals and energy.
He stressed that the meeting focused on trade diversification and increasing the share of high value-added products.
Ushakov went on to say that Putin and Fernandez reviewed the current state and prospects of joint dialogue in the political, economic-commercial and humanitarian-cultural spheres, as well as relevant issues on the international agenda.
