500 students have returned to schools in the capital of Ecuador

Luis Calle, Metropolitan Secretary of Education of Quito, indicated that by provisions of the National COE and the Metropolitan COE, students can voluntarily return to schools due to the increase in COVID-19 infections.

Calle indicated that 500 students have returned to school in person. In addition, he added that the contagion of schools is minimal, so far there are six students and one teacher infected. Therefore, he indicated that educational centers are not a source of contagion.

In addition, the secretary indicated that the municipal educational facilities are capable of receiving students safely. He also indicated that 96 percent of teachers are vaccinated with the second dose against COVID-19.

Calle pointed out that the return to classes has been “successful.” And he added that students are the ones who most want to go back to school.
