604 doctors have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Ecuador

The president of the Ecuadorian Medical Federation revealed that more than 600 of his colleagues have died from COVID-19, since the start of the pandemic. This would be added to more than 150,000 deaths that would have occurred in the country and that are far from the figures presented by the National Government.

The number of infections presented by the Ministry of Health reaches 625,029, as of January 16, 2022, but according to Santiago Carrasco, more than one and a half million people have already been infected in the country.

In the same way, he insisted that there is an underreporting of people who died. Currently, the Ministry of Health reports 34,227 deaths related to COVID-19, but, according to the figures handled by the Ecuadorian Medical Federation, deaths from the virus would exceed 150,000.

On the other hand, he warned that several members of President Lasso’s Cabinet have him behind a barrier, which prevents him from finding out about the health emergency that the country is going through.

“Members of the National COE must step aside, because they have done what they wanted. With these people, we’re not going anywhere. There should be the change that President Guillermo Lasso offered.”
