(Prenesa Latina) The artillery and rocket attacks by the Turkish army and radical groups related to it against several localities in the north of Syria caused the displacement of at least 1,100 families from their homes.
According to Ibrahim Khalef, director of Social Affairs in Hasakeh province, during the last two days these families fled the heavy shelling and abandoned their homes in the villages of Abu Rasin, Assadieh, Um Haramlah, Dada Abdal, Matmoura, Khedrawi and Rabyat.
He called on all international organizations and non-governmental associations to help the displaced and move to stop the war actions.
Activists and media reported an intensification of Turkish shelling under pretext of destroying targets of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-majority militia allied to the United States, labeled as terrorist by Ankara.
Since 2018, the Turkish military and illegal armed groups have controlled extensive areas in the provinces of Idlib, Aleppo, Raqa and Hasakeh in northern Syria.
On several occasions Damascus denounced this presence and called it an occupation, and claimed that Turkey’s continuous attacks aim at a demographic change through the displacement of civilians.
