In Ecuador, about 51 thousand doses were administered against COVID-19, during the second Vaccination 2021. This campaign, developed this Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 December, was carried out in 638 authorized points in different areas of the country. Here the two vaccines were given to the people, in addition to the booster against the disease.
To be immunized were citizens of different ages, especially children, adolescents and young people. According to data from the Vaccine Meter, with cut-off to Thursday, December 16, 2021, 52% of infants and adolescents, from 5 to 17 years of age, have both doses.
People from the priority population also attended Vaccination 2021. According to a document from the Ministry of Health, Fabiola Cárdenas, a teacher at the Borja Educational Unit in Cuenca, applied the booster dose. “This will allow us to achieve community immunity and protect our family,” said the teacher.
While María Narcisa Arroyo, of the third age, received reinforcement against the disease, through the inoculation brigades of the Playa de Oro Health Center. “I am an elderly person who makes it difficult for me to go to the health center. But thanks to the professionals who came to the place where I live, they gave me my vaccination. Now I feel more protected, ”she pointed out.
The Ministry of Public Health also reported that the best shield against COVID-19 is vaccination. Without forgetting to use the mask and not to agglomerate.
